Mr. Levesque Recognized at 2018 Excellence Awards!

Congratulations to Health and Physical Education teacher Jay Levesque who was recognized in the Growth Category at the 2018 FCPS Excellence Awards Ceremony for his accomplishments as a lead teacher and Great Beginnings Coach.

The FCPS Excellence event was held at Fairfax High School on October 16 and was attended by Superintendent Dr. Scott Brabrand, members of the FCPS Leadership Team, members of the FCPS School Board, and other distinguished guests. Mr. Levesque brought, as his guests, his parents who were both teachers in Fairfax County Public Schools. Mr. Levesque was recognized for his contributions his profession during an informal reception and a formal ceremony. The following excerpt from his nomination packet was read while he received his certificate from Dr. Brabrand, Assistant Superintendent, Region 2 Fabio Zuluaga, and members of the School Board.

Mr. Levesque is in his 15th year of teaching elementary physical education including 10 years as a Lead Teacher & currently in his second year as a Great Beginnings Coach. In the past two years, Mr. Levesque has created and shared over 200 instructional videos of lessons and activities providing both visual and auditory resources to any and all health and physical education teachers in the county in need of guidance or fresh ideas. As a team player, his focus is advancing the profession to provide the best health and physical education program to as many students as possible. He actively mentors any teacher who asks for help and respects our profession and student learning to the highest degree. His teaching is inspirational, effective, and student-focused. 

Thank you, Mr. Levesque, for all of your all that you do to support, encourage, and help lead the health and physical education at the other 190+ schools in Fairfax County and, particularly, for your commitment to the students at Chesterbrook Elementary School.
