a portrait of Maddie KingCongratulations to Principal Madelyn King who was recognized at the annual FCPS Honors event as the 2019 Region 2 Outstanding Elementary New Teacher and one of five finalists for this year's Outstanding Elementary New Teacher Award!

There is no doubt that Ms. King is a gifted educator who touches her students’ lives. Ms. King makes learning come alive with a multi-sensory approach to teaching. She is known for writing original raps to help students review material and for sharing stories about herself to build her caring classroom culture. Ms. King has the biggest heart and would do anything to help her students succeed. She goes above and beyond to create an inclusive setting where differences are celebrated. She believes that every student has something to offer and she helps her students to believe it too. “Ms. King has a way of being so genuine,” said a parent, “parents always leave her classroom knowing that their students are well cared for.”

Congratulations also to the other Chesterbrook Elementary School staff members recognized at FCPS Honors!
